Basic Membership Qualifications
Manufacturers: Any person, firm or corporation engaged in the manufacturing or wholesale distribution of accessibility equipment is eligible to become an active Manufacturer member of the Association with the full voting privileges. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Associates: Any person, firm or corporation with an interest in the accessibility equipment industry to become an Associate member. This includes equipment users, building owners, code writers, regulatory authorities, accessibility contractors, industry associates, government and others. Associate members do not have voting privileges.
Accessibility Equipment: The term "Accessibility Equipment" includes the design, manufacture, installation and servicing of vertical, inclined and horizontal conveying systems which are used primarily to provide access and/or egress for physically disabled persons in public and residential environments, commonly known as platform lifts, stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, access elevators, residence elevators, stairway chairlifts and similar products.

Article II - Definition
The term "Accessibility Equipment" includes the design, manufacture, installation and servicing of vertical, inclined and horizontal conveying systems which are used primarily to provide access and/or egress for physically disabled persons in public and residential environments, commonly known as platform lifts, stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, access elevators, residence elevators, stairway chairlifts, limited use/limited application elevators and similar products.
Associate Member:
Note: Dues payments to AEMA are deductible as ordinary and necessary business expense for income tax purposes; However, dues' payments are not deductible as charitable contributions.
Membership Approval: Membership in AEMA is contingent upon a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
